Payout Setup

Payouts are processed via Stripe Connect. You must complete a one-time onboarding flow to connect your bank account before your first monthly transfer can be initiated.

Overview

Inlay uses Stripe Connect Express to pay publishers. Stripe handles identity verification (KYC), bank account validation, and the actual transfer. Inlay never holds or stores your banking details — all sensitive information is collected and retained exclusively by Stripe.

If you have not completed Stripe onboarding, your earned revenue continues to accumulate in Inlay's system. It will be paid out on the next monthly cycle after your bank account is connected — no revenue is forfeited for delayed onboarding.

Connecting your account

Go to Dashboard → Settings → Payouts and click Connect bank account. You will be redirected to a Stripe-hosted onboarding form. The form collects the following in sequence:

  • Your business or personal details — legal name, address, and date of birth
  • Identity verification — a government-issued ID document
  • Bank account details — account and routing number, or IBAN depending on your country
  • Agreement to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement

After completing onboarding, you are redirected back to the Inlay dashboard. Stripe verifies your submission, typically within minutes. You will receive an email from Stripe when your account is approved and payouts are enabled.

Resuming an incomplete onboarding

If you close the Stripe onboarding form before finishing, return to Dashboard → Settings → Payouts and click Resume onboarding to continue from where you left off. The link is single-use and expires after 24 hours; a fresh link is generated each time you click Resume onboarding.

Identity verification

Financial regulations require Stripe to verify the identity of every account holder receiving funds. Requirements vary by country. For most publishers, verification requires:

  • A government-issued photo ID — passport, national identity card, or driving licence
  • Business registration number for accounts established as a business entity
  • Last four digits of SSN or an equivalent national tax identifier (US publishers)

Stripe may request additional documentation if automatic verification does not complete immediately. These requests are sent by email directly from Stripe — check your inbox for messages from Stripe after submitting your onboarding form.

Required capabilities

Before initiating a monthly transfer, Inlay verifies that your Stripe Connect account has both of the following capabilities in an active state:

  • Transfers — permits Inlay to send funds to your connected account
  • Payouts — permits Stripe to disburse funds from your connected account to your bank

If either capability is not yet active — for example, because identity verification is still pending — your payout is deferred to the next monthly cycle. Capability status is visible under Settings → Payouts in your dashboard.

Do not deauthorise the Inlay connection

Revoking Inlay's access to your Stripe Connect account from within the Stripe dashboard will prevent future payouts. If you deauthorise accidentally, reconnect your account from Dashboard → Settings → Payouts. Any accumulated balance is preserved and will be paid out after reconnection.

Transfer timing

Monthly payouts are initiated on the first business day following the end of each calendar month. Stripe then disburses the funds to your bank according to your account's standard payout schedule — typically 2–5 business days for most countries. The payout status in your earnings dashboard updates in real time as the transfer progresses.
